Dating tips for neurodivergent singles
Dating works best when it works the way your brain does. A few low-pressure ideas for profiles, conversations and first meetings.
Write the profile you would want to read
Clear beats clever. Say what you enjoy, what you are looking for and anything that helps someone talk to you well, such as preferring messages to calls. Your interests are the easiest way in for someone who shares them.
Go at your own pace
There is no rule about how fast to reply. If you need time, take it. If a conversation is not for you, a one-click reply lets the other person know kindly, so nobody is left wondering.
Say what helps
You never have to share more than you want. Some people find it easier to mention early on what helps them, like direct questions or a quieter place to meet. On a site where everyone understands neurodivergence, that conversation tends to be easier.
Plan a first meeting that suits you
- Pick somewhere public that you find comfortable: a quiet café, a walk, a museum.
- Agree a time limit if that helps. An hour is plenty.
- Tell a friend where you are going.
- It is fine to leave if it does not feel right.
